The History of Nike
After Effects is a challenging tool to leap into. In my mind, it was taking Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premiere Pro, and mashing them up. It had a steep learning curve, but with a little patience I had grown to enjoy it. I usually explain the project and then present, but now I will do the opposite. Enjoy!

Now to the details.
Like any art project, you start with a good brainstorm. The basis of the video is that it needed to be infographic, giving us a statistical information on someone or something. I find that I have a larger drive to work on something I enjoy, it feels less like work and more of personal interest. It boiled down to Nike, and once I had the frames together it was a matter of figuring out who I could collaborate with.
Voice Over
Krantzsy Boursiquot is one of my favourite artists to work with. He’s a visionary, and more importantly, has a great recording voice. I typed out a script for him to look at ahead of time, and we headed to the recording studio to get working.
Editing and Audio
Once we got to the studio, a fellow artist, Collin Schepers was gracious enough to help us with our recording from setup to post production. He quickly pieced everything together, and then it was a matter of piecing everything together.
Final Touches.
I went right to the computer to start building my assets in Adobe Illustrator. Once I had them, I pulled them and the audio file into After Effects and got right to the keys. Timing was everything. I had to make sure that the audio lined up well with my graphics, and eventually I came to the end result.
Motion design has a lot more than meets the eye. You can see the time that is put in with extra attention to smoothing transitions and adding additional effects to take it to the next level. To achieve the spinning globe, it was a matter of finding a tutorial quickly and following the steps on the fly. Design is fast-paced, and you’re never going to know everything. It takes research, dedication, planning, and just a bit of luck.
